Magest Founder, Gary Martin, started his career in construction by completing small to medium sized construction projects. Like anyone starting out in construction this included the glamorous to the not so glamorous, such as single family home roofing projects & small renovations to more interesting projects like building Domes in Goderich, Ontario for the salt mines!
Before Magest there was GWMartin construction. A graduation from his early days of construction, Gary Martin developed his business into commercial construction work. Building larger warehouse type projects with pre-manufactured building systems like Murox and Butler.
Magest Inc is born! With Three founding partners, Magest started its incorporated career in the world of pre-engineered buildings. Magest began by supplying and installing Butler pre-engineered structures throughout Canada,
Starting small with agricultural projects like silos, Magest developed into one of the premier Butler building suppliers in North America.
Magest Significantly expanded its operations by offering construction services internationally. Supplying Butler pre-engineered buildings to places like Russia, Algeria, and Spain.
After years of working internationally Magest decided to setup major roots in Stratford, Ontario by constructing its own Butler facility; 20,000 square feet of office space and 60,000 square feet of warehouse space.
The gateway to the new Wright Business Park in Stratford, Ontario, this building became the beginning of the next chapter in Magest’s pre-engineered/pre-fabricated building journey.
Cold Formed Steel! The idea around supplying a mass produced cold formed steel wall panel came from Magest’s days of working internationally. It started by pre-fabricating decorative components on butler buildings locally and shipping to remote locations. This sparked the idea to mass produce our own structural cold formed steel system, utilizing many of the things learned over decades of working with butler pre-engineered systems.
Bringing its builder first mentality to the manufacturing facility Magest was able to expand its operation after early successes in the cold formed steel framing industry. Magest added 40,000 square feet to the manufacturing facility.
As is true to our philosophy we wanted to control as many aspects of our manufacturing as possible. Adding roll forming capabilities to our operation was the next step and with the purchase our own Formtek B & K machine Magest was able to add cold formed steel roll forming to its offerings. Allowing us to control a major component of our product. We roll form cold formed steel stud and track from 2.5” wed to 14” web, 1” flange to 3” flange and 12 gauge to 26 gauge material.
A further manufacturing expansion began in 2021. Magest added another 10, 000 SF addition to the facility. This allowed Magest to consolidate all steel manufacturing equipment in this space and add another cold formed steel framing line to the main facility to allow for added capacity in serving its many clients.
